It’s Carnival Time! Just like Rio – but less feathers.
When: Saturday November 16th 1pm warm up for 1:30 start.
Where: Oakleigh Pool
Who: We are hosting Padua and Enoggera for the annual POETs Shield. Competitors are aged from Under 7 to 15 years old.
What do you need to do:
Swimmers need to email availability or see Lisa this FRIDAY at the latest. Events will be finalised over the weekend.Parents need to check the list of jobs. We rely on the good will of our wonderful volunteers to be able to coordinate a fun, efficient and safe carnival.
Older swimmers need to help us contact past swimmers (life members) who may need a break from study and a fun afternoon in the pool to help us with the older age groups (that’s what social media is for).
JOBS - We will need:
CanteenBBQ
Timekeepers 8 (4 for each half to let people have a break)
Marshals 2
Gate / tickets / programs 2
Ribbons 2
Adults relay 8 swimmers
Reminders:
Swimmers must wear caps to compete.
10 years and above swim 50m (except for Butterfly -10 year olds swim 25m).
We share the races among all swimmers and try to ensure that everyone gets at least 2 swims (some get a lot more). We do have a few age groups where we have a lot of girl swimmers and often can only get everyone races if competitors are willing to swim in ‘Boy’ events (girls are allowed to swim as boys) or if they swim up in to older age groups. It is all points for the club and we thank these swimmers for their sportsmanship. For 50 m races, preference is given to competitors who have registered 50m times on club nights.
Please see Lisa (or any member of the Committee) on Friday if you have any questions.
